Fused glass on aluminum, 14″ x 11″,
I love the complexity and beauty of diatoms. For this artwork,
I used the technique of glass powder printing to make the
diatoms. The white ones were directly printed onto the glass with
a clear sheet of glass on top and fused. Then the black diatoms that
were printed onto the kiln shelf, becoming glass wafers, were fused
onto the top of the glass at a low temperature to maintain texture.
This piece has a lot of texture and depth of view.
